Good Hope Church is the oldest Presbyterian church in continuous existence in Anderson County. It was organized in 1789, and its first pastor was Rev. John Simpson. The congregation worshipped at three sites near Generostee Creek, three miles west of Iva, and the old cemetery is at the third site. The sanctuary was built in Iva in 1909, 200 yards west of the marker.
