Evolving from the early 18th century Noe family farm on S. Blvd., the six hundred acre Noe Estate consisted of three homes, three greenhouse ranges, three cow barns for three hundred fifty milk cows, a commercial dairy, a three acre pond, and two ice houses to provide ice for homes, dairy, and rose production. Workers were housed in company homes along Noe Ave. and by the greenhouses, and a third range of greenhouses was built later on S. Blvd. On Noe Ave., formerly Race Course Lane, Louis Mulford Noe built his Italianate three story home for his bride, Emily Brant, in 1871, though the third story burned in the 40s. Louis Albert Noe, L.M. Noe's son, built his home overlooking Great Swamp, circa 1910, for his wife Bertha Collins. Both Noes were early Township Mayors, and Noe Ave., formerly Race Course Lane, was renamed after Louis M. Noe.
