The University of Oklahoma Observatory in Norman, Oklahoma, serves as the university’s astronomical observatory and carries the IAU code H30. Built in 1939 on what was then the southernmost building on campus, it originally housed a 10-inch Newtonian reflector and a smaller 3.5-inch telescope beneath a 16-foot dome. In 1995, the original 10-inch instrument was replaced with a 0.4-meter, 16-inch Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The observatory’s significance lies in its long-standing role in the university’s astronomical work and the evolution of its equipment over time.
