Glenmont was the home of Thomas Alva Edison from 1886 until his death on October 18, 1931. Three children were born there to Edison and his wife, Mina. The library over the entranceway served as his "Thought Laboratory" for many ideas that later took shape at the Edison Laboratory in the valley below.
