Klickitat Glacier
Nature
Klickitat Glacier lies on the east slopes of Mount Adams in Washington, descending from about 12,000 feet to a terminus near 7,200 feet. It is within both the Mount Adams Wilderness and the Yakama Indian Reservation, and occupies high ground near Piker's Peak, which forms part of its upper boundary. An old lateral moraine below the present terminus marks a former northern edge of the ice, showing how much the glacier has changed. Over more than a century of retreat, Klickitat Glacier lost 46 percent of its surface area between 1904 and 2006.
