Welton Ideker, a lifelong native of Mound City, Missouri, served on the Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents from 1977 to 1983. During his tenure on the Board, he supported the Regents' vote to pursue alternative fuels, an initiative that later brought worldwide recognition to the University. Through the contributions of his son, Ron, and Ron's wife, Martha, the Southeast Entrance to Bearcat Stadium bears his name.
