Pennyrile Forest State Resort Park is a Kentucky state park in northwestern Christian County, south of Dawson Springs, named for the pennyroyal plant native to the region. Covering 863 acres, it was developed around a 56-acre lake created by a dam originally built in 1938. As part of the state park system’s resort parks, it offers a 24-room lodge with a restaurant, 12 cottages, a campground, multi-purpose trails, and an 18-hole golf course. The lake supports non-motorized boating with rentals available. Today it serves as a public recreation area that combines forest, water, and overnight accommodations in western Kentucky.
