John Pesek of Ravenna, Nebraska, born in 1894 and died in 1978, was a world champion wrestler recognized on September 13, 1937. A statue honoring him was dedicated on May 26, 1978, made possible by a grant from the Nebraska Arts Council, citizen donations, and the Ravenna Chamber of Commerce.
