The first McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18A Hornet was first flown in November 1978. The F/A-18 has been and continues to be a major asset in Naval Aviation, from the 1986 strikes against Libya to the fight against Global Terrorism, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and throughout the world.
