From 1771 to 1822, Samuel Clark and Butler Atkinson worked here as cabinet makers. From 1822 to 1829, Alexander A. Young sold tinwear and stoves, also printed “Chronicle,” and part of the building was occupied by the Post Office. From 1829 to 1838, John C. Simmons built a large brick building, and the Odd Fellows Lodge occupied its upper floors. From 1838 to 1898, Peter Lynch worked here as a tinsmith and installed the first gas street lights. From 1898 to 1937, George D. Worrell operated a plumbing business. From 1937 to 1970, the property was owned by the James T. Gottlieb family for meats and groceries. From 1796 to 1910, a grist mill stood a few hundred feet east. The cobblestones in this park are the original cobblestones from the bed of Pine Street.
