The First Zion Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church was built in 1836 as the oldest Methodist church in Wayne County. The church was built from trees cut on the site and milled at Viele's local sawmill. Its 1835 Board of Trustees included Uriah G. Beach, Paul Davis, Lucius Hibbard, John Roe, and William Wadsworth. It honors the memory of Leila and Orson Moore.
