History
1
Reserve, located in the San Francisco Valley at an elevation of 5765 feet, had a population of 600. Original Hispanic settlers named it upper San Francisco Plaza in 1874, and the name was later changed to Reserve in recognition of the U.S. Forest Service headquarters located there. Apaches made frequent attacks on the community, which lay within Apache hunting lands.
