Lower Hatchie National Wildlife Refuge is a protected wetland in West Tennessee near the meeting of the Hatchie and Forked Deer rivers and not far from the Hatchie’s confluence with the Mississippi. Part of the U.S. National Wildlife Refuge System, it encompasses 9,451 acres of riverine floodplain shaped by connected waterways, backwaters, and marshes. The refuge is especially important as rich habitat for aquatic life and waterfowl, preserving a low-lying landscape whose ecological value is closely tied to the Mississippi corridor.
