Mustang Peak is a 3,596-foot summit in the Diablo Range of central California along the boundary between Monterey and Fresno counties. Rising within a northwest-to-southeast trending section of the range, it stands above Joaquin Canyon, a tributary of Cholame Creek, and commands broad views across the interior Coast Ranges. From the summit, the landscape opens east to the Kreyenhagen Hills and Kettleman Plain, north to the Jacalitos Hills and Pleasant Valley, south over Joaquin Canyon, and west toward Mine Mountain and Cholame Creek. Its significance lies in its commanding position within the hills and plains of this region.
