Cannon County honors the patriotism, valor, and sacrifices of its Confederate soldiers of the period 1861-1865, and marks the spot where the Tennessean Lieutenant Colonel John B. Hutchenson of Company 2, Kentucky Regiment, Morgan's Cavalry, was killed in battle on January 25, 1863.
