Black Coulee National Wildlife Refuge
Nature
Black Coulee National Wildlife Refuge is a one thousand three hundred eight-acre refuge in northern Montana near the Canada-U.S. border. A very remote part of the National Wildlife Refuge System, it belongs to the Bowdoin Wetland Management District. The refuge has no on-site staff and is administered from Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge. Its importance today rests on its place within a broader wetland management network serving this sparsely populated border region.
