Stevens Peak is a prominent Sierra Nevada summit above Hope Valley in eastern California, rising just over 10,000 feet and standing out sharply above State Route 88. Its slopes drain east to the West Fork Carson River and west to the Upper Truckee River, helping shape views toward Lake Tahoe in this part of the range. The peak is associated with one of the earliest recorded Euro-American views of Lake Tahoe, when John C. Frémont and Charles Preuss likely reached its summit on February 14, 1844, though Red Lake Peak is also possible. Its name, used since at least 1896, honors J. M. Stevens of Hope Valley.
