Army Sgt. James William Lundsford, Jr. was killed in action in Binh Dinh Province during the Vietnam War while serving with the 173 Airborne Combat Team on Nov. 25, 1969, at age 19 years 2 months, by an explosive device. His home was Vigo, OH, and Billy was an arising baseball star. He volunteered for the army to follow in his father's footsteps, as his father had served in the Korean War. On May 31, 2015, Southeastern High School honored Sgt. Lunsford with an honorary high school diploma and a memorial stone on school property.
