The National Firearms Museum in Fairfax County, Virginia, serves as the National Rifle Association’s principal public showcase, presenting about 2,500 guns across 15,000 square feet. Founded in 1935 in Washington, D.C., and moved to Fairfax County in 1998, it traces seven centuries of firearms development through chronological galleries and immersive period settings from early America to the twentieth century. Its collection covers hunting, sport, policing, personal defense, and military history, including weapons from the American Revolution through Desert Storm. Notable pieces are linked to U.S. presidents, military figures, famous shooters, and entertainers, alongside galleries devoted to engraved firearms and weapons used in film and television.
