Pops 66 in Arcadia, Oklahoma, opened in 2007 as a restaurant, gas station, and roadside attraction on historic Route 66. Built around a soda-pop theme, it became a notable example of contemporary roadside architecture, especially for its 66-foot bottle-shaped sign and its broad cantilevered truss extending over the pumps and parking area. Inside, glass walls display more than 700 varieties of soda bottles arranged by color, combining collection and design. Owned by Aubrey McClendon and designed by Elliott + Associates Architects, Pops earned architectural awards and inspired later offshoots, while the original site remains a prominent modern landmark along Oklahoma’s Route 66.
