The memorial honors men from Richfield who gave their lives so that others might be free: Joseph Hugick, John Leo Purcell, and Ward Shepard in World War I; Walter Abramski, Harold Brown, Roscoe Dyn, Frank Guzick, Leo Jakubek, Clifford Kinney Jr., Francis V. Lupia, Bruce Marsh, Joseph Sdrewski, and Frank Thurston in World War II; and Albert Hazelton Jr., Richard Heath, and John Hula Jr. in the Korean Conflict.
