A monument records the names, ages, and residences of seventy-eight people who died in the Greater Johnstown Flood and bears the biblical inscription, “A people who have walked in darkness have seen a great light: to them who live in the region of the shadow of death, a light has risen.” It was erected through gifts of school children during the 1979 International Year of the Child.
