State Bank and Trust stands as an architectural and financial landmark. It began serving the community on 6-8-1907 and is the community's oldest bank. Its doors remained open continuously even during the Great Depression. The current building was designed by Warren, Knight and Davis of Birmingham and completed on 8-27-62. Its original vault door was built circa 1915 by Herring-Hall-Marvin Safe Co. Late presidents included P.M.R. Spann, R.W. Harris, Jr., James G. Stalcup, Grace D. Stalcup, Wm. S. Stalcup, and W. Danny McDaniel. It was named to the Alabama Register of Historic Places on 10-1-97.
