Organized as Methodist Church Concord, the congregation had a house of worship before 1858. Its present site was deeded to the church on Nov. 28, 1876, by E.S. Hull, and this building was erected by men of the community in the winter of 1876-1877. About 1900, the name was changed to conform to the local post office, which was named for first postmaster Theodorick B. Wood, appointed Jan. 16, 1854. The church is one of the oldest buildings in Panola County still in use.
