The Barlow House Museum in Barlow, Kentucky, near the confluence of the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, occupies a Victorian home built in 1903 by Clifton Jesse Barlow, son of Thomas Jefferson Barlow, an early settler who arrived in the Ballard County wilderness in 1849 and bought 400 acres in the area that became the town of Barlow. The house remained in the family and later passed to Clifton’s eldest son, Vivian, who used it as a summer residence while teaching in Connecticut. Over years of world travel, Vivian assembled the memorabilia and artifacts now displayed there and left the property to the US Bank Foundation for the public benefit of Ballard County.
