Bakers Creek Baptist Church has served Spencer County for 200 years. The church was organized in 1818, and the first service in its first meeting house was held in April 1822. The original church and cemetery stood on property donated by David Luce, one-half mile northeast of the present church. A church built in 1869 burned in 1918, and this fourth church was built in 1922.
