Reverand Father Francis Olszewski, born in Poland, served as a priest for more than 55 years. He came to the Ohio Valley from Canada in 1920, called by Bishop Patrick Donahue, and brought with him a small group of nuns of the Order of the Sisters Auxiliaries of the Apostolate, of whom he was the founder. He served the people of Colliers as well as those of New Cumberland, where at the age of 70 he built a church and rectory with his own bare hands. The people of Immaculate Conception Parish later rebuilt on the ridge because of the threat of floods, after he had been their spiritual father for more than 35 years and then died on February 24, 1955.
