On this site, on Feb 4, 1863, the Union Army rode into the Simeon Cato farm and surprised Daniel McGee troops. Nine were killed outright and twenty more were mortally wounded. The majority of these men are buried in a mass grave at nearby Greenbriar Cemetery.
