Organized in 1789 at the home of William Blakely as the Baptist "Sinks of Beaver Creek," this congregation has held services continuously since its first building, a log cabin erected about 1799. In 1874, a hand-dressed yellow poplar structure replaced the original building. The present building was erected in 1961. Although the name changed, the same organization continued, and over the years members withdrew to form other churches in the area.
