The Mancha “Little Trammer” was one of the smallest mining locomotives manufactured by the Mancha Storage Battery Locomotive Company. Powered by batteries, it could be used deep within mines without emitting toxic fumes. Though small, it was capable of pulling several 1.5-ton fully loaded ore cars, up to about 10 tons total. Its removable battery box allowed an exhausted battery pack to slide off and a freshly charged battery to slide on, letting it continue operating as long as charged batteries were available. This particular locomotive was used at the Guadalupe mine from the 1940s until the mine closed in the 1970s, and the Guadalupe Rubbish Company donated it to NAQCPA in 1987.
