The Military Order Purple Heart of the U.S.A., 1782 - 1932, is dedicated to those killed in action, missing in action, and wounded in action, and to the memory of tribal members by Military Order of Purple Heart Sun Lakes, Arizona Chapter 1958 in the year 2000. A grateful nation of many nationalities and its veterans dedicated this memorial to all men and women awarded the Purple Heart Medal, honoring their courage and heroism under the most adverse wartime conditions. It also honors the many valiant and courageous warriors who never returned home because their lives were given up in battle and who paid the ultimate sacrifice in times of war. The Gila River Indian Community, American Legion Post 84, and Auxiliary Unit 84 especially thanked tribal veterans who were wounded or killed in action in times of war and affirmed that their courage, heroism, and bravery will never be forgotten.
