The Alaska Native Veterans Memorial is dedicated to all Alaska Native veterans of Southeast who served in the United States Armed Forces. It calls for remembrance of their shining spirits that will live on forever and honors veterans of World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War era, Panama, Granada, Bosnia, and Afghanistan, as well as those who served in the US Army, US Marine Corps, US Navy, US Air Force, US Merchant Marine, and Alaska Territorial Guard. The site includes monuments on the southeast lawn for Tsimshian, Haida, and Tlingit warriors, a statue of an Alaska Territorial Guard soldier in arctic combat uniform with an M-1 Garand rifle, and monuments on the northeast lawn bearing Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian words for courage.
