Tall Pines State Preserve
Nature
Tall Pines State Preserve is a 110-acre preserve in Gloucester County, New Jersey, spanning Bark Bridge Road in Deptford Township and the Sewell section of Mantua Township. Opened in November 2015 as Gloucester County’s first state park, it occupies land that was once forest, then a golf course from the early 1950s. After a development company bought the property in 2006, local and state partners raised funds to preserve it as protected open space. Today it supports walking, birdwatching, running, cycling, and picnicking, while also helping protect the local water supply through its role as a natural filter.
