Blackfoot River Wildlife Management Area is a 2,400-acre protected area near Soda Springs in southeastern Idaho along the Blackfoot River, managed by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game for public access and improved habitat for westslope cutthroat trout and other game species. Its land use history reaches back before protection: the Rasmussen family homesteaded it in 1883, John Jay Stocking bought it in 1907, and the Stocking family held it for three generations until the Conservation Fund purchased it in 1994 and later transferred it to the state. The area is valued for its river setting, fisheries, and habitat for moose, elk, and mule deer.
