George Lester Ivey, born in the Shingle Creek area and raised in Kissimmee, married Hilda Claudia Rocker in 1922 after she had moved from Georgia in 1920 as a teacher. They owned citrus groves in Osceola, Polk, and Orange Counties, opened Osceola Fruit Distributors in 1928, and later added a canning and concentrate plant. As members of the First Methodist Church, they gave generously to the community. They had one child, Clarence Lester "Jerry."
