Archibald Smith Plantation Home in Roswell, Georgia, was built in 1845 by town founder Archibald Smith and preserves the core of a plantation that remained in the same family for three generations. Restored in 1940 by Arthur and Mary Smith of that third generation, the estate was preserved before leaving family ownership. Sold to the City of Roswell in 1986, it opened as a house museum in 1991. Its significance extends beyond the main house to surviving outbuildings, including slave quarters and work structures, which reflect both the family’s history and the labor system that sustained the property. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
