John L. Chapman Family Cemetery
Military
Several descendants of the Chapman family are buried here along with some veterans. Among those interred is Captain John Chapman of the 34th Virginia Cavalry, C.S.A., who was wounded several times, including once at Gettysburg, and led troops in a skirmish at the Curry Farm in 1864. He died in 1886. His mother, Julia McComas Chapman, was the first white inhabitant born in present-day Lincoln County.
