The Wonder Spot was a Lake Delton roadside attraction near Wisconsin Dells that operated from 1949 to 2006 and built its appeal on the illusion that gravity behaved strangely there. Centered on a ravine and a tilted cabin, it used slanted construction to make visitors seem unable to stand straight, water appear to flow uphill, and chairs balance oddly. Opened by Louis Dauterman in 1952 and later owned by Bill Carney, it became a popular regional stop before losing ground to larger theme parks and water parks. It closed after its sale to the village of Lake Delton, ending the oldest permitted attraction in the Wisconsin Dells region.
