Forrest H. Anderson, a native Montanan, grew up during the Depression, raised a family, and over thirty years of public service served as a county attorney, legislator, supreme court justice, attorney general, and governor from 1969 to 1973. Montana's outdoors was his favorite place, and he helped improve it for everyone by establishing this and many other sites along rivers in the state. His accomplishments in government included reorganizing state government into 21st century management, supporting enactment of the new Montana State Constitution, establishing the State Law Enforcement Academy, and creating the State Board of Investment to save millions of tax dollars. He was respected for saying what he meant and meaning what he said, and his political skill was surpassed only by his passion for fishing and hunting. He loved Craig and the Missouri River as treasures for all to protect and enjoy.
