Ebenezer Presbyterian Church was the first African-American Presbyterian church in the Craven County area. It was founded in 1880 a half block north of here on Pasteur Street, was destroyed by the Great Fire of 1922, and was rebuilt in 1924 at 720 Bern Street. The Honorable George H. White served as first Clerk of Session, and Rev. A.A. Scott was pastor.
