Members of the Egypt congregations and community served in World War One, and the dead included Clifford Gangeware, Edwin Miller, and Harry Miller, who were killed in action, and Erwin Moyer, who died in service. Their service was honored with the words, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends,” and in 1923 tribute was paid to the community’s boys who served in the war.
