Berlin Railroad Station
Atco, New Jersey
Transportation
6
Built in 1856 as the Long-A-Coming Station, the station was renamed Berlin in 1867. Joseph L. Thackara served as its first station agent, and the station handled both passengers and freight. In the 1960's, the rail line was reduced from double track to single track, and the station closed because of decreased rail travel. In 1994, the Long-A-Coming Historical Society organized the station's restoration. The Berlin Train Station is the oldest existing station in New Jersey and is listed on the New Jersey and National Registry of Historic Places.
