On this site in 1916, Bradley Central High School began meeting the educational needs of the community. Its name came from the county, which was named in honor of Col. Edward Bradley, a veteran of both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. The school held classes on the Ocoee site until 1972, and although the original structure was eventually replaced, its rich heritage provided a figurative cornerstone for the school complex later erected on South Lee Highway.
