Aiken Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame and Museum
Aiken, South Carolina
Unknown
Founded in 1977 in Aiken, South Carolina, this horse-racing museum honors the flat racing and steeplechase Thoroughbreds that trained in the city and reflects Aiken’s long role in preparing racehorses for wider success. Located at Hopelands Gardens in the former carriage house and stables of Charles Oliver Iselin and Hope Goddard Iselin’s estate, it grew from a local project led by the Aiken Jaycees with support from Whitney Tower. Its Hall of Fame centers on 40 Eclipse Award-winning horses that trained in Aiken, while other exhibits connect the city’s winter training tradition to the broader history of American Thoroughbred racing.
