C.B. and Q. 5614 Steam Locomotive was built in July 1937 in West Burlington, Iowa, by C.B. and Q. at a cost of $99,285.00. It weighed 288 tons, or 576,000 pounds, was a class 0-5-B Northern type, and was used in passenger and freight service. Later improvements totaled $107,525.00. It was retired from active service in September 1957 and donated to the City of Saint Joseph on April 27, 1962 by Burlington Northern Rail Road. A corporation was formed and stock sold to raise money to pay for moving the locomotive into its present location.
