On this island in 1736 and 1737, John and Charles Wesley, George Whitefield, Benjamin Ingham, and Charles Delamotte lived and labored. They were leaders in the evangelical revival and founders of The Methodist Church. They left an imperishable record of vision and fidelity, which Epworth-By-The-Sea has been established to perpetuate and extend.
