Sleepy Hollow State Park in Michigan spans 2,678 acres in Ovid and Victor townships, centered on Lake Ovid, a 410-acre man-made lake created by damming the Little Maple River after land purchases in the late 1960s. Opened in 1976, it gave mid-Michigan a large recreation area built around the region’s largest nearby body of water. The park combines open water, shoreline, and trails for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding, along with camping, picnicking, hunting, snowmobiling, and disc golf. It is also known for wildlife, especially fish in Lake Ovid and the rich birdlife of its water and wetlands.
