Roaring Brook Falls is an 80-foot horsetail waterfall on West Mountain in the southwestern hills of Cheshire, Connecticut, and one of the tallest in the state. The site also reflects a long history of human use. Recovered arrowheads indicate that Algonquian Native Americans visited the area before Connecticut Colony settlers arrived. From as early as the 17th century, nearby land was clear-cut for farming, and the brook powered a mill. By the late 1800s, the falls had become a popular scenic destination for visitors from nearby New Haven. In 1978, local preservation efforts protected the waterfall and surrounding forest from development.
