In the mid 1950s, as Elvis Presley's career was beginning to take off, he and his then manager stopped at this location after he had made at least one record at Sun Studio in Memphis and asked that his record be played on KPOC. He was greeted by KPOC announcer Bill Nicholson, who remembered him as a shy, polite young man with obvious talent, and KPOC's airing of his record played a small part in his rise to stardom.
