Built in 1901 by Hague Town Supervisor Ellis Bolton, this building became a market through Bolton’s partnership with Melvin Barton and soon John Keenan, though it operated under the name Barton and Keenan. In 1906, Will Keenan joined the business and the market became Keenan Brothers. In 1908, Barton sold his interest to the Keenan brothers while keeping his other town businesses, including what is now the Uptown building. In 1949, Bob and Ada Hoyt bought the market and renamed it The Hague Supermarket; Ada, a nurse, gave allergy shots in the deli and weighed babies on the meat scale. In 1961, five-year-old future owner Sally De Larm helped Bob Hoyt sell candy bars. In 1979, Joan and Art Steitz bought the store and, besides groceries, sold tourist sweatshirts in summer, hunting gear in fall, and rented cross-country skis in winter. In 1996, Douglas and Sharon Zeyak bought the store and ran it in their own style, with Doug, a musician, selling guitars along with groceries and dry goods. In 2011, Jim and Sally De Larm Rypkema bought the store and renamed it the New Hague Market, offering organic produce and regionally produced meats and cheeses. In 2014, Juniper, Sally's gift store, moved to the second floor, featuring gifts and clothing tied to lake life.
